A 20-minute FR Day Rate during Night NADIR Ground Track will be performed in the near future. This time will consists of a ground track starting in the South Atlantic and rides up the Western Coastline of the Southern portion of Africa. The Night NADIR Ground Track collection of FR Day Rate Science Data is used to verify and trend the SWIR bands out-of-band correction coefficients.

March calibrations for the FM1 MODIS instrument include an SRCA full radiometric, an SRCA full spatial, Lunar Calibration Roll, and weekly SD calibrations.

A flight software patch is planned to the Control Processor CP07 mode transition table to not turn off the instrument formatter when MODIS transitions to Safe Mode. However, this patch is still postponed until the Aqua BST patch has been implemented.

Maneuvers:

The DMU #9 Maneuver is currently scheduled for March 19, 2003 (DOY 2003/078) at 16:15:00. The burn will last approximately 75 seconds. The slew out and then back will occur at 15:33:00 and 17:07:00, respectively.

The next FM1 MODIS Lunar Calibration via Spacecraft Roll Maneuver is April 12, 2003 (DOY 2003/102) with data collection from 20:23:18 to 20:29:58 GMT and a roll angle of -10.4528 degrees.

The Deep Space Calibration pitch maneuver(s) are still postponed pending the results of the Terra Deep Space Calibration maneuvers currently planned for March 26 and April 14, 2003.

MODIS Anomalies:

Work is still underway to fix the current BST patch as well as modify the final BST patch that was nearing final review approval. This fix will solve the problem of MODIS Ground Command transactions being disabled by MODIS Stored Commands.

General Instrument Comments:

FM1 MODIS is in Science Mode. The SVD and NAD are Open, the survival heaters are enabled, and the Black Body is heated to 285 K.

MODIS Telemetry Trends:

The FM1 MODIS instrument telemetry is trending nominally. The radiative cooler temperatures have leveled off with approximately 37mW of margin left with the SMIR focal plane heater. These telemetry points will continue to be closely monitored.

Non-MODIS Significant Events:

The EMOS mission status webpage (which includes instrument data loss records) can be found at the following URL. Note that a password is now required to access the EOS mission links webpages. There are directions at the URL below for how to obtain a username/password.

At approximately 2003/036 21:39:02 (Wednesday, Feb. 05, 2003) the HSB Instrument received a Scan Motor Sync Error (HSB_SS_IDFLGW1B09) that did not automatically clear after eight seconds. This was followed by a Sync Failure To Recover indicator alert (HSB_SS_IDFLGW1B11). This failure to recover lead to a sequence of events that placed the HSB Instrument in Survival Mode. HSB remains in Survival Mode to date while anomaly teams assess the situation and plan for a possible return to science mode.

At 15:09:24 on Wednesday, March 5, 2003, the Aqua FOT loaded the Aqua FSW Patch for Geolocation Fix. This patch solves the coordinate system time frame inconsistency on the Star Catalog processing on the GNCC that has caused small amounts of geolocation errors to propagate into the MODIS Science Data. The problem was causing oscillating ground track errors in the order +/- 200 meters. This error has now been reduced to less than +/- 80 meters with the application of the FSW Patch.

On Saturday, March 8, 2003 (DOY 2003/067), the CERES-Aft instrument entered Safe Mode at 10:26:20, as a result of scheduling errors that activated the internal CERES Fault Management inadvertently.
