NOTE: A flight software patch was loaded to the instrument at approximately 21:00 GMT February 15, 2002 (2002/046) to correct a known problem which allows time values in the MODIS data headers to have a value of 1000 (milliseconds) when the maximum should be 999. EDOS discards data that have invalid time values in the data headers.

2002/057 15:43:24-15:44:35 ATC MOD_CLOSE_NAD_SVD.1 Contingency closing of the NAD and SVD for Inclination Adjust Maneuver. (This activity will be inhibited via an onboard TMON if the IAM is successful.)

Maneuvers:

The next MODIS Lunar Calibration via a spacecraft roll maneuver is scheduled for March 3rd, 2002 (DOY 2002/062) with data collection from 07:12:11 to 07:18:41 GMT. The roll angle will be -13.0011 degrees.

There has been a change to the Terra inclination maneuver schedule. A new constraint has been imposed to have the maneuvers completed prior to the launch of the Aqua spacecraft (currently 4-18-02). The new inclination maneuver dates are February 26th, March 5th, March 19th, and April 4th, 2002. This new plan violates a previous constraint of not performing more than two maneuvers in any 7-week period. Therefore, Flight Dynamics products for dates beyond the next two maneuvers will have inaccuracies.

The Terra Deep Space Calibration Maneuver is still postponed. The maneuver date is not expected until late summer of 2002.

MODIS Anomalies:

Formatter Error Events:

The Formatter Error Rate is still increasing with a buffer rollover time of about five hours and thirty minutes. The current error-logging plan to only monitor the first 15 noted addresses was deemed the best monitoring approach at present. Therefore, the current limit of 15 address will continue to be used, and the currently full buffers will be dumped and clear on the evening of February 22, 2002.

Error tracking spreadsheets have been updated and can be retrieved from:

An MS Excel spreadsheet called, AM1_FR_error_rollovers_MMDDYY.xls contains the data for the times each of the error count "roll over" occurs (with the MMDDYY denoting the date the spreadsheet was made, the more recent date containing the most up-to-date information).

General Instrument Comments:

MODIS is in Science Mode on the A-side with the SVD and NAD open, operating with the Formatter Resolution Flight Software Patches (FRFSP) and a formatter Time Code Patch.

MODIS Telemetry Trends:

No abnormal telemetry trends are being observed.
