Mission Operations Days: 2002/096 to 2002/102
April 06, 2002 00:00:00 GMT to April 12, 2002 00:00:00 GMT

MODIS is in Science Mode, producing Science Data. Regularly scheduled calibration activities have resumed.

The patch to remove the FR OFF command from the CP Mode Transition to Safe Mode was successfully loaded. Any future Safe Mode transitions will not cause the loss of the FR patches that protect the FR from Watchdog Resets.

Current talks revolve around whether or not to write the formatter (KME_FAST) patch to EEPROM.

This Week's Scheduled MODIS Activities Not Completed:

None

Upcoming Week's MODIS Events:

This month's remaining calibration activities will include SRCA Full Spectral, BB Heating Cycle, and a PV ECAL.

Maneuvers:

There will not be a MODIS Lunar Calibration at the beginning or end of April because the required roll angle will exceed the allowable limit. Expect the next possible MODIS Lunar Calibration toward the end of May.

The Drag Make Up (DMU) Maneuver on DOY 100 (4/10/2002) at 20:20:35 for 25 seconds was successful. The next DMU has not been announced.

The sixth Terra inclination maneuver has been postponed (originally scheduled for 4/2/2002). The new date for the maneuver is not yet known. The maneuver will only be done if it does not interfere with any Aqua spacecraft launch activities.

The Terra Deep Space Calibration Maneuver is still postponed. The maneuver date is not expected until late summer of 2002.

MODIS Anomalies:

See description at the top of this report.

Formatter Error Events:

The current patches loaded into the MODIS Formatter record the number of formatter error events (but not the address where they occurred). Statistics for the error rate will soon be generated and placed on the Internet. For data on the pre-safe mode error events, please see the link below.

The most recent error tracking spreadsheets can be retrieved from:

ftp://ftp.mcst.ssai.biz/pub/permanent/IOT/am1/analysis/FR_events/

An MS Excel spreadsheet called, AM1_FR_error_rollovers_current.xls contains the data for the times each error count "roll over" occurs.

General Instrument Comments:

MODIS is in A-side Science Mode.

MODIS Telemetry Trends:

All systems appear to be functioning properly. Tracking of the Formatter Error Rate has resumed.

Non-MODIS Significant Events:
