This Week's Scheduled MODIS Activities Not Completed:

None

Upcoming MODIS Events:

The Formatter EEPROM patch to prevent the formatter from resetting due to the error events has been approved. A specific date has not yet been chosen to perform the load, but the activity will be planned to avoid important activation periods for Aqua. The IOT currently intends to load the patch after the Aqua doors have been unlatched but before the FM1 active outgassing period begins.

Upcoming calibrations for the month of May include an SRCA Full Radiometric, SRCA Full Spatial, and bi-weekly SD/SDSM calibrations.

Maneuvers:

A 25 second terra Drag-makeup maneuver is planned for Wednesday, May 8th, 2002 at 18:58 GMT. Lower fidelity spacecraft pointing is expected from about 17:58 to 21:28 GMT that day.

There will not be a MODIS Lunar Calibration at the beginning or end of April because the required roll angle will exceed the allowable limit. Expect the next possible MODIS Lunar Calibration toward the end of May.

The sixth Terra inclination maneuver has been postponed (originally scheduled for 4/2/2002). The new date for the maneuver is not yet known. The maneuver will only be done if it does not interfere with any Aqua spacecraft launch activities.

The Terra Deep Space Calibration Maneuver is still postponed. The maneuver date is not expected until late summer of 2002.

MODIS Anomalies:

Formatter Error Events:

The current patches loaded into the MODIS Formatter record the number of formatter error events (but not the address where they occurred). The error rate has increased slightly since the instrument safe mode recovery with up to 200,000 errors occurring per day. For data on the error events, please see the link below.

The most recent error tracking spreadsheets can be retrieved from:

ftp://ftp.mcst.ssai.biz/pub/permanent/IOT/am1/analysis/FR_events/

An MS Excel spreadsheet called, AM1_FR_error_rollovers_current.xls contains the data for the times each error count 'roll over' occurs.

General Instrument Comments:

MODIS is in A-side Science Mode.

MODIS Telemetry Trends:

All systems appear to be functioning properly. Tracking of the Formatter Error Rate has resumed.
