This Week's Scheduled MODIS Activities Not Completed:

None

Upcoming MODIS Events:

Lunar Calibration via roll maneuver, June 29th.

Maneuvers:

A 13.6 second duration delta-v (drag make-up) burn was successfully performed (two and one half minutes late) on June 19th, 2002 at 18:00:29. The burn was delayed because a command in the stored command load to turn off one of the line heaters appeared to not have been sent. It is believed that two relay commands in the stored command load were scheduled to occur at the same millisecond; 64 milliseconds are nominally required between these commands.

The next MODIS Lunar Calibration will be on June 29, 2002 (DOY 2002/180). The roll angle for this activity will be -15.6745 degrees.

The sixth Terra inclination adjust maneuver is tentatively being planned for July 17th, 2002.

The Terra Deep Space Calibration Maneuver is still postponed. The maneuver date is not expected until late summer of 2002.

MODIS Anomalies:

Formatter Error Events:

The current patches loaded into the MODIS Formatter record the number of formatter error events (but not the address where they occurred). The error rate is now approaching 10 million errors per day.

A patch was attempted on Tuesday, June 18th, 2002 to prevent a register load from occurring every pass through the flight software background task. This software address for with this register load had previously been associated with over 80% of the formatter errors. The patch was successfully loaded (and the contents verified by a memory dump), but there was no discernable decrease in the error rate.

Intermittent bad frame count formatter event messages (xx1B) are being observed. This is one of the event messages being used to warn of potential impacts to the science data. The MODIS halt memory transfer command is being sent after each 1B event message. This command triggers both a CP and FR event message and thus "clears" the current MOD_SS_FR_LAST_EVENT message of the xx1B value.

The most recent error tracking spreadsheets can be retrieved from:

ftp://ftp.mcst.ssai.biz/pub/permanent/IOT/am1/analysis/FR_events/

An MS Excel spreadsheet called, AM1_FR_error_rollovers_current.xls contains the data for the times each error count "roll over" occurs.

General Instrument Comments:

MODIS is in A-side Science Mode with the blackbody maintained at 290K.

MODIS Telemetry Trends:

All systems appear to be functioning properly. Tracking of the Formatter Error Rate is continuing.
