This Week’s Scheduled MODIS Activities Not Completed:
The third yaw maneuver of January 15th was cancelled because of a slew timing problem due to the slower acceleration rate used during Terra small angle maneuvers. The cancellation was known in advance so the MODIS inhibit IDs were set to prevent the SD calibration from executing.
2003/015 16:12:39 - 16:30:52 ATC MOD_OA09_SD_YAW_SCREEN_DBL_A.3
2003/015 16:14:40 Forward Slew Start (-1.89 degrees)
2003/015 16:31:40 Return Slew Complete
The fourth yaw maneuver of January 16th could not be performed because of an inability to communicate with the Terra spacecraft during one of the scheduled TDRS contacts. It was not possible to inhibit the MODIS SD calibration so the activity executed although the spacecraft was not yawed to the desired attitude.
2003/016 16:57:20 Forward Slew Start (-3.58 degrees)
2003/016 17:15:30 Return Slew Complete

2003/023 09:55:33 - 10:33:31 ATC MOD_OA22_SRCA_FULL_SPECT_4A.2 OA22: SRCA Full Spectral Calibration part 4, A-side
January calibrations: Quarterly SRCA spectral and black body, bi-monthly SRCA spatial, monthly SRCA radiometric, and bi-weekly SDSM calibrations.
Two new SRCA calibrations will be performed in the near future; one of these new activities will use the “backup” lamps in the SRCA Spherical Integrating Source (SIS) for the first time on orbit.
Maneuvers:
The next MODIS Lunar calibration will be scheduled for January 22, 2003 (2003/022), with data collection from 15:56:36 to 16:03:06 (GMT). The roll angle will be -1.0332 degrees.
The second half of the yaw maneuvers for SD/SDSM “Screened” calibrations were performed on January 15- 16, 2002. See the activity list above.
The Terra Deep Space Calibration Maneuvers are now being planned for March 25th, 2003 (without the moon in the instruments fields of view) and April 14th, 2003 (with the moon in the spacecraft orbit plane). Details of these maneuvers will be provided closer to the event dates.
MODIS Anomalies:
None
General Instrument Comments:
MODIS is in Science Mode, using all A-side components, but cross-strapped to Formatter B, with the blackbody maintained at 290K.
MODIS Telemetry Trends:
Nominal telemetry tracking is taking place. The intermediate stage radiative cooler temperature that had been increasing has now leveled off. The cooler temperatures and focal plane heater power will continue to be monitored with the expected solar beta angle changes.
Non-MODIS Significant Events:
The EMOS mission status webpage (which includes instrument data loss records) can be found at the following URL. Note that a password is now required to access the EOS mission links web pages. There are directions at the URL below for how to obtain a username/password.
