February calibrations: biweekly SDSM, monthly SRCA Radiometric, and bimonthly PV Ecal.

Maneuvers:

The next MODIS Lunar calibration will be scheduled for February 21, 2003 (2003/052), with data collection from 01:08:08 to 01:14:38 (GMT). The roll angle will be -10.3622 degrees.

The Terra Deep Space Calibration Maneuvers are now being planned for March 26th, 2003 (without the moon in the instruments fields of view) and April 14th, 2003 (with the moon in the spacecraft orbit plane). Details of these maneuvers will be provided closer to the event dates.

MODIS Anomalies:

MODIS data loss (See Non-MODIS Significant Events).

General Instrument Comments:

MODIS is in Science Mode, using all A-side components, but cross-strapped to Formatter B, with the blackbody maintained at 290K.

MODIS Telemetry Trends:

Nominal telemetry tracking is taking place. The intermediate stage radiative cooler temperature that had been increasing has now leveled off. The cooler temperatures and focal plane heater power will continue to be monitored with the expected solar beta angle changes.

Non-MODIS Significant Events:

On Saturday, February 1, 2003 (doy 032), at 01:47:28 GMT, MODIS Science Data stopped being written to the SSR. There was no anomalous telemetry being reported by either MODIS or any of the other Spacecraft Subsystems. All telemetry, save for the non-incrementing SSR buffer, appeared to indicate a healthy Spacecraft. After initial observations, it was noted that no high rate data from ASTER, MISR, or MODIS was being record (hinting at a problem with the SFE or SSR). The cause of the problem was determined to be a locked up SFE-A HPM-2A board on the spacecraft, not MODIS. The SFE-A was power cycled, and all of its components were brought up nominally. Due to this anomaly, there was a MODIS science data loss from 2003/032 01:47:28 to 23:26:43 (21 hours, 39 minutes, 15 seconds). Also due to this anomaly, the final 13 SDSM Screened collections, and the final SDSM Open collection were lost due to the data “black out” period.
