Upcoming MODIS Events:

A 20-minute FR Day Rate during Night NADIR Ground Track for the following period has been scheduled: 2003/069 21:42:00-22:02:00. This time overlaps the 21:45-22:00 "data granule", and consists of a ground track starting in the South Atlantic and rides up the Western Coastline of the Southern portion of Africa. The Night NADIR Ground Track collection of FR Day Rate Science Data is used to verify and trend the SWIR bands out- of-band correction coefficients.

March calibrations for the PFM MODIS instrument will include an SRCA full radiometric, an SRCA full spatial, and biweekly SD calibrations.

Maneuvers:

The next Terra MODIS lunar calibration is being planned for March 22, 2003 with a roll angle of -20.0000 degrees and data collection from 07:09:50 to 07:16:20 GMT. The optimal roll angle is actually -20.6 degrees. However, the moon will still be in the field of view of the space view port using the maximum allowed roll angle of -20.0 degrees.

The Terra Drag Make-up Maneuver was successfully executed on March 6, 2003. The maneuver was at 2003/65 19:17. The Loss of Pointing Accuracy window was 2003/065 18:17:30 to 2003/065 20:45:00.

The Terra Deep Space Calibration Maneuvers are now being planned for March 26, 2003 (without the moon in the instruments fields of view) and April 14, 2003 (with the moon in the spacecraft orbit plane). The March 26, 2003 maneuver will start at 2003/085-14:53:32 GMT and will be completed at 15:29:26. The backup date scheduled (in the event the maneuver has to be "waved off") for the maneuver is 2003/088 15:24:13. The April 14, 2003 maneuver will start at 2003/104-21:57:56 GMT and will be completed at 22:33:50. The time of the maneuvers may fluctuate as a result of orbit changes.

For approximately 36 minutes prior to the maneuver, the MODIS instrument will be configured to collect data at the formatter Night rate. During the maneuver, data collection will be at the formatter Day rate. Following the maneuver, the high-rate instrument data feeds (including MODIS') to the Terra solid state recorder will be disabled until the maneuver data are successfully captured on the ground through two different downlink opportunities.

MODIS Anomalies:

General Instrument Comments:

MODIS is in Science Mode, using all A-side components, but cross-strapped to Formatter B, with the blackbody maintained at 290K.
