Terra 2nd Deep Space Calibration (DSC) pitch maneuver (with lunar view)

2003/104 21:21:44 ATC MOD_OA04_NIGHT_RATE.1 Sets MODIS Formatter to night rate Scheduled at nadir terminator crossing minus 35:54 for pre-DSC data rate balance
2003/104 21:57:38 ATC MOD_OA03_DAY_RATE.2 Sets MODIS Formatter to day rate Scheduled at nadir terminator crossing in lieu of normal formatter to night command
2003/104 22:33:32 ATC MOD_OA04_NIGHT_RATE.1 Sets MODIS Formatter to night rate Scheduled at nadir terminator crossing plus 35:54 for DSC data rate balance

Maneuvers:

The second Terra Deep Space Calibration Maneuver is still on schedule for April 14, 2003 (with the moon in the spacecraft orbit plane). The maneuver will start at approximately 2003/104-21:57:38 GMT and will be completed at 22:33:50.

For approximately 36 minutes prior to the maneuver, the MODIS instrument will be configured to collect data at the formatter Night rate. During the maneuver, data collection will be at the formatter Day rate. Following the maneuver, the high-rate instrument data feeds (including MODIS’) to the Terra solid state recorder will be disabled until the maneuver data are successfully captured on the ground through two different downlink opportunities.

There will not be a Terra MODIS lunar calibration during the month of April. The required roll angle exceeds the maximum allowed angle of -20 degrees.

MODIS Anomalies:

None

General Instrument Comments:

MODIS is in Science Mode, using all A-side components, but cross-strapped to Formatter B, with the blackbody maintained at 290K.

MODIS Telemetry Trends:

Nominal telemetry trending is ongoing.
