This Week’s Scheduled MODIS Activities Not Completed:
None
Upcoming MODIS Events:
May calibrations for the PFM MODIS instrument will include biweekly SD/SDSM, monthly SRCA Radiometric, and bimonthly SRCA Full Spatial calibrations. However, PFM SD/SDSM calibrations are currently on hold pending the resolution of the solar diffuser screen anomaly.
Maneuvers:
There will not be a Terra MODIS lunar calibration during the month of May. The required roll angle (-25.2278 degrees) exceeds the maximum allowed angle of -20 degrees. The next MODIS lunar calibration will be on June 18, 2003 (doy 169). Roll angle will be -19.2006 degrees, and data collect will be from 14:31:03 – 14:37:33.
MODIS Anomalies:
During the May 6, 2003 (doy 2003/126) Terra Solar Diffuser calibration with the Solar Diffuser Door in the full open position, the telemetry mnemonic, MOD_CR_DR_SDS_OPEN, did not change from NOT_OPEN to OPEN as was expected. A xx6A CP Event Message, "MTR SDD Trigger Not Found", was generated. Further analysis by MCST determined that the screen had indeed remained NOT_OPEN during this calibration, however, dump data analysis by the IOT showed that the drive motor moved through the entire range of the screen from closed to open to closed. Initial thoughts are that the clutch that attaches the drive motor to the screen may have malfunctioned. Further investigation is underway and Terra SDSM calibrations are temporarily on hold.
General Instrument Comments:
MODIS is in Science Mode, using all A-side components, but cross-strapped to Formatter B, with the blackbody maintained at 290K.
MODIS Telemetry Trends:
Nominal telemetry trending is ongoing.
