This Week's Scheduled MODIS Activities Not Completed:

Upcoming MODIS Events:

Calibrations for April will include weekly SDSM, monthly SRCA Full Radiometric and SRCA 10W Radiometric, bimonthly PV Ecal, and quarterly SRCA Full Spectral and Black Body calibrations.

The previous execution of the Terra SRCA Full Spatial activity on 2004/079 was scheduled with the end of the data collection in S/C Day. The activity has been rescheduled to end data collection 3 minutes prior to S/C Day. This will avoid reflections off the SDD in its permanent open position from effecting the calibration.

2004/099 20:46:42-20:47:13 ATC MOD_SRCA_NOMINAL_SETUP.4 Sets up nominal SRCA lamp configuration
2004/099 20:48:32-21:46:43 ATC MOD_OA23_SRCA_FULL_SPAT_A.4 OA-23: SRCA Full Spatial Calibration - A Side Data collection from 21:04:26-21:46:42 S/C Night from 21:15:51-21:49:42

Maneuvers:

There will be no Lunar Calibration Roll in April for the Terra MODIS. The necessary roll angle is -26.3051 degrees, which is beyond the -20.0 degree limit.

Terra will perform a Drag Make Up (DMU) Maneuver on Tuesday, April 6, 2004 (DOY 2004/097). Time of the maneuver is 18:30:34 GMT and will last for 20 seconds. Expect loss of, and regaining of, high fidelity pointing is predicted as 17:00:34 GMT and 21:00:34 GMT, respectively.

MODIS Anomalies:

MODIS NAD (Nadir Aperture Door) Anomaly:

Telemetry still indicates that the “NAD Open” (MOD_CR_DR_NAD_OPEN) trigger is set to the “NOT_OPEN” position; however, science data has shown that the NAD is open. The NAD OPEN trigger may yet “pop” to OPEN due to thermal cycling on the trigger, as was seen on 2002/079.

General Instrument Comments:

MODIS is in Science Mode, using all A-side components, but cross-strapped to Formatter B, with the blackbody maintained at 290K and the Solar Diffuser Door at the Screened position.

MODIS Telemetry Trends:

Nominal telemetry trending is ongoing.

Non-MODIS Significant Events:

Terra Solid State Recorder Anomaly

Overview:

The SSR Anomaly is still under investigation. MODIS currently is operating with 34 Supersets allotted for its buffer. There are plans in the works for possibly power cycling the SSR to get back PWA's that are in the Bad List, but no date has yet been set. There are no current plans for a change in science data capture rates. For details, see previous reports.
