Additional calibrations planned for November:

  • Weekly SD/SDSM Calibrations

Maneuvers:

There will be a drag makeup maneuver (Aqua DMU #5) on November 12, 2002 (DOY 2002/316), at 15:40:34. The maneuver will include a 94.307-second burn.

The next Aqua MODIS lunar calibration is planned for November 15, 2002, with data collection from 04:38:56 to 04:45:26 GMT and a roll angle of -9.8076 degrees.

The Deep Space Calibration pitch maneuver(s) have been indefinitely suspended pending mission review.

MODIS Anomalies:

The MODIS commanding anomaly is still being investigated. A patch was loaded to the Aqua spacecraft on Tuesday, October 11, 2002 (DOY 2002/284). This patch switched the MODIS ground-command timing slots with the MODIS stored-command timing slots. This transfers the risk associated with dropping commands from stored commands to real-time ground commands.

No problems have been reported since the patch was loaded and the last command drop occurred on September 2, 2002 (DOY 2002/245). The results of the patch will be evaluated for some time before the next configuration change is made. A final patch to the Aqua Bus Scheduler Task (BST) is being considered which would eliminate the timing issues to MODIS for both ground commands and stored commands.

On November 7, 2002 (DOY 2002/311), final patch to the BST was outlined. The two MODIS command slots in the BST that are currently switched will be returned to their original locations. At the same time, the command slots will be given a one minor cycle delay. This will result in the command slots having the desired delay period between themselves, and the bus signals that are believed to have caused the occasional problems with MODIS receiving commands.

General Instrument Comments:

FM1 MODIS is in Science Mode. The SVD and NAD are Open, the survival heaters are enabled, and the Black Body is heated to 285 K.

MODIS Telemetry Trends:

The FM1 MODIS instrument telemetry is trending nominally. The most recent radiative cooler telemetry analysis indicates significant temperature margin for the cold focal planes.
