Quarterly SRCA spectral and black body, bi-monthly SRCA spatial, monthly SRCA radiometric, and bi-weekly SDSM calibrations will be scheduled in January..

SRCA activities are being developed to measure detector cross talk and will be performed in the near future.

A flight software patch is planned to the Control Processor CP07 mode transition table to not turn off the instrument formatter when MODIS transitions to Safe Mode. This patch is expected to be loaded by the end of January.

Maneuvers:

The next Aqua MODIS Lunar Calibration via roll maneuver will be on January 13th, 2003 (2003/013). The roll angle will be -5.3215 degrees and the data collection period will be from 18:45:25 to 18:51:55 GMT.

The Deep Space Calibration pitch maneuver(s) have been indefinitely suspended pending mission review.

MODIS Anomalies:

On November 7, 2002 (DOY 2002/311), a final patch to the BST was outlined. The two MODIS command slots in the BST that are currently switched will be returned to their original locations. At the same time, the command slots will be given a one sub-minor cycle delay. This will result in the command slots having the desired delay period between themselves, and the bus signals that are believed to have caused the occasional problems with MODIS receiving commands. This patch is still under development.

General Instrument Comments:

FM1 MODIS is in Science Mode. The SVD and NAD are Open, the survival heaters are enabled, and the Black Body is heated to 285 K.

MODIS Telemetry Trends:

The FM1 MODIS instrument telemetry is trending nominally. A slight increase in the radiative cooler intermediate stage temperature has been observed along with a decrease in the focal plane heater power usage. The radiative cooler temperatures has not leveled off as dramatically for the FM1 MODIS as they did for the PFM MODIS, but the intermediate stage temperature has only risen about 1 degree Celsius and the focal plane heater still has approximately 40mW of power margin remaining. These telemetry points will continued to be closely monitored.
