This Week's Scheduled MODIS Activities Not Completed:

Upcoming MODIS Events:

The second Aqua BST patch was loaded to the spacecraft at approximately 13:34 GMT on Tuesday, April 15, 2003 (DOY 2003/105). The MODIS transactions were re-enabled at 13:37 GMT. Then the MOD_HALT_CP_RAM_XFER command was successfully sent 15 times over several orbits and all MCL commanding has since performed nominally as well. Note: Although transaction 106 (ISC to MODIS commands) shows disabled on the telemetry display pages, these commands are reaching MODIS properly. The transaction is enabled and disabled when each command is sent. The Aqua patch to the Bus Scheduler Task corrected the MODIS dropped / delayed command anomaly. With the success of this patch, the Aqua MODIS SRCA crosstalk calibration is being rescheduled and a patch to the MODIS control processor mode transition table will be performed. Additionally, the Aqua FOT has been instructed to return to normal “red-limit response” procedures for the MODIS Instrument.

The patch to remove the FR OFF command from the Safe Mode portion of the MODIS CP07 Mode Transition Command (CP Table 11) has been loaded (2003/107). The dumps verified that the 76th word (and only that word) in CP Table 11 change from its original value of x1820 (FR OFF) to the expected value of x0000 (NO- OP). This is the same patch that was applied to the Terra MODIS Flight Software.

April calibrations for the FM1 MODIS instrument include quarterly SRCA Spectral, quarterly Black Body, bimonthly PV Ecal, monthly SRCA Full Radiometric, a Lunar Calibration Roll, and weekly SD/SDSM calibrations.

Maneuvers:

The next FM1 MODIS Lunar Calibration via Spacecraft Roll Maneuver is May 12, 2003 (DOY 2003/132) with data collection from 05:55:36 to 06:02:06 GMT and a roll angle of -6.7176 degrees.

The next Aqua Drag Make-up maneuver is scheduled for April 24, 2003 at approximately 16:49 GMT.

The Deep Space Calibration pitch maneuver(s) are still postponed pending the results of the Terra Deep Space Calibration maneuvers currently planned for March 26 and April 14, 2003.

MODIS Anomalies:

Recent SRCA calibrations have shown that SRCA lamp #2 is not producing the same output characteristics as the other SRCA 10 Watt lamps. Upcoming SRCA Full Radiometric and Full Spatial calibrations will use the backup lamp (#4) in lieu of lamp #2. The SRCA Cross Talk Calibration has also made use of this backup lamp configuration. After the data are analyzed, a decision will be made regarding which 10W lamps to use for the nominal schedule of SRCA calibrations.

The test review for the second Aqua Bus Scheduler Task (BST) patch was conducted on Wednesday, April 9, 2003. The Command Authorization Meeting (CAM) for this patch was Monday, April 14, 2003. The patch was loaded on Tuesday, April 15, 2003.

General Instrument Comments:

FM1 MODIS is in Science Mode. The SVD and NAD are Open, the survival heaters are enabled, and the Black Body is heated to 285 K.

MODIS Telemetry Trends:

The FM1 MODIS instrument telemetry is trending nominally and the radiative cooler temperatures have stabilized.
