This Week’s Scheduled MODIS Activities Not Completed:

None

Upcoming MODIS Events:

Calibrations for May will include biweekly SDSM.

Maneuvers:

The next Aqua MODIS Lunar Calibration Roll will be on DOY 2005/139 (May 19, 2005). The roll angle will be -7.0831 degrees. Data collect will be from 12:24:27-12:30:57.

MODIS Anomalies:

At 137/01:07:30, during the 20W portion of the SRCA Full Spatial calibration, there was abnormal output from the lamps. The 20W calibration abruptly ended and neither the 10W calibration nor the 1W calibration were performed, even though the SRCA was still on. All other functions of the SRCA were working properly, including the slit and wheel movements, and the previous 30W calibration. This anomaly seems to be affecting 10W lamps #1, 3, and 4, and 1W lamp #1. From the software point of view, everything appears to have worked correctly, but the current clearly shows the anomaly. Preliminary analysis is leaning towards an overvoltage protection tripping the power to the lamps, but more analysis is needed. No SRCA calibrations will take place until this anomaly is resolved. However, there is no immediate impact on the MODIS science data as of now.

General Instrument Comments:

FM1 MODIS is in Science Mode. The SVD and NAD are Open, the survival heaters are enabled, and the Black Body is heated to 285 K.

MODIS Telemetry Trends:

The FM1 MODIS instrument telemetry is trending nominally.
